The stage was set for the ultimate in sibling rivalry when the Belles skated onto the rink to the Rocky theme song in their sleek new uniforms. As the whistle blew for the first jam, Mo Pain and Bonnie Thunders were neck and neck, breaking through the pack together. Mo Pain earned lead jammer and called off the jam with the score at one point each. Jam two saw Suzy Hotrod facing off against Goldieboxxx at the starting line. The advantage went to Gotham, with Hotrod capturing lead jammer status and scoring eight points to Goldieboxxx’s four. The pack was all over the place, with Ana Bollocks and Joey Hardcore building walls at the back as Philly skaters dominated the front. Donna Matrix sent Violet Temper flying into the crowd after suffering a similar fate courtesy of the wily Mandawar. The third jam featured Nikki Knuckles against Lil Miss Stuffit, who was taken down by Ivana Rock on her first pass through the pack. Knuckles emerged as lead jammer only to be knocked out of bounds by Donna Matrix. The jammers were blocking each other as they skated around the curve before their second pass as Hela Skelter got revenge on Ivana Rock. Moments later, Knuckles called the jam after scoring a single point to Stuffit’s eight. Mo Pain came out strong as lead jammer in the fourth, a half lap ahead of Suzy Hotrod. Pain called it off on her second pass, and shut out Gotham, 4-0. Persephone attempted another shut out in the next jam, ending it with four, but Bonnie Thunders picked up a point before the whistle blew. It was still anyone’s game, with the score at 14 for the Liberty Belles and 18 for the Gotham Girls. Tensions heated up in jam six, with Belles pivot Rosie Bloodbath sending Gotham jammer Lil Miss Stuffit into the crowd as Beyonslay kept Nikki Knuckles locked up in the pack. Stuffit recovered and lapped the pack, lapping Knuckles for a fifth point before time ran out. Jam seven pitted Bonnie Thunders against Mo Pain again. Donna Matrix and Joey Hardcore were called for the 20-foot penalty just before Thunders ended the jam, with both jammers grabbing four points. The next jam was scoreless, with Stuffit and Goldieboxxx stuck in the pack as Vixen Van GoGo tangled with Ana Bollocks, sending her to the floor. Jam nine Persephone went up against Bonnie Thunders, whose flawless first pass earned her lead jammer status. Dara Licks gave Persephone a powerful whip, only to leave her stuck behind Gotham's wall of blockers. Before Persephone could claw her way through, Thunders fell and called it off, scoring only two points but effectively shutting Persephone out. Mo Pain and Lil Miss Stuffit faced off again in jam 10. Pivots Kandy Kakes and Rosie Bloodbath both went down blocking as Suzy Hotrod knocked Mo Pain into the crowd. Mo recovered but was sent back into the audience by Pop Rox. Stuffit called it with five points, leaving Mo Pain with none. Suzy Hotrod went to the penalty box at the start of the next jam, which was cut short as Persephone called it to keep Blissy Sadistic from scoring. Hotrod emerged from the box to jam against Violet Temper, but was pushed mercilessly to the inside by Dara Licks. Donna Matrix responded by doing the same to Violet Temper, ensuring that neither achieved lead status. On the next pass, Ivana Rock chased Suzy Hotrod as she broke through the pack, while Violet got a helpful whip from Nina Knockout at the back, only to be pushed out of bounds by Hela Skelter. Jam 13 started seconds before the period ended, and was called off by officials at the sound of the buzzer. The score at the end of period one was 22 Liberty Belles, 41 Gotham Girls. Period two began with Nikki Knuckles jamming against Suzy Hotrod, who was named lead jammer. On the second pass through the pack, Nina Knockout pushed Hotrod out of bounds as Vixen Van GoGo hit the floor in a blocking attempt. Rosie Bloodbath pushed Knuckles through the pack before falling and taking Ginger Snap with her. Suzy Hotrod ended the jam, scoring six points to Knuckles’ solid four. Mo Pain beat out Bonnie Thunders for lead in the next jam. Spitfire Flair moved Kandy Kakes out Mo’s way just as she called the jam, outscoring Thunders 4-1. In jam three, Goldieboxx and Lil Miss Stuffit faced off, with Beyonslay blocking Goldieboxxx as Ana Bollocks whipped Stuffit forward to lead jammer. Stuffit called it off, shutting out Goldieboxxx 3-0 in what was to be the first of five scoreless jams for Philly. Belles captain Violet Temper took to the starting line against Suzy Hotrod next. Violet was almost through the pack when the Gotham blockers pushed the 20-foot pack rule and held Violet back while Suzy called off the jam. The Belles skated down two girls in the next two jams due to penalties, while Gotham skated down one. Mandawar made up for her missing teammates by valiantly blocking two Gotham girls while whipping jammer Nikki Knuckles through the pack. In jam seven, Beyonslay came out hitting hard as her teammates built a wall to hold back Mo Pain. Bonnie Thunders captured lead status and called the jam as Spitfire Flair took her down. It was the last of Philly’s scoreless streak, and they were down 68-30. But the Belles kept fighting, with Persephone named lead jammer in the eighth. She breezed past a block attempt by Kandy Kakes to finish the jam with Suzy Hotrod stuck in the pack. The next jam Goldieboxxx was skating against Lil Miss Stuffit. Blissy Sadistic and Beyonslay tried chasing Goldieboxxx as she broke through the pack, but she left them in a cloud of dust. Later that jam, Blissy Sadistic lined up the shot and threw Pop Rox into Vixen Van GoGo... Goldieboxx went down with the three of them like bowling pins. Nikki Knuckles shut out Bonnie Thunders in the next jam, picking up three for her team. Mo Pain followed Knuckles for the same against Blissy Sadistic. Jam 12 was a fierce showdown between Persephone and Lil Miss Stuffit. Pop Rox and Beyonslay started the jam in the penalty box. Persephone got stuck behind Ana Bollocks, but managed to pass and snag lead jammer status as Goldieboxxx and Vixen Van GoGo took Stuffit down and out. Persephone called the jam, scoring four points and shutting out Stuffit. The tide was turning, but with a single period remaining, could it the Belles pull off a win? The last jam of the second period pitted Nikki Knuckles against Suzy Hotrod. Knuckles got an assist from Spitfire Flair as Beyonslay helped Hotrod, who picked up two points. The score for the period stood at 43-75 in favor of Gotham. Both teams started off the third period with some heavy blocking. As jammers Mo Pain and Bonnie Thunders circled the track, Beyonslay took out Spitfire Flair and Mandawar. Mandawar was quick to retaliate, unleashing a series of hard hits on Beyonslay before teaming up with Spitfire to knock Thunders out of bounds. Nina Knockout landed in the crowd before Thunders called the jam. Before the next whistle, Donna Matrix, Violet Temper and Dara Licks were all sent to the penalty box. Pop Rox took to the jammer line for the first time in jam two, with pivot Beatrix Slaughter assisting her through the pack. Ana Bollocks knocked Persephone to the ground, going down with her as Pop Rox called the jam. The next jam was another Pain-Stuffit showdown, with Blissy Sadistic eating the rink in a block attempt on Mo Pain, who snuck by Beyonslay on the inside to clear the pack. AnnieChrist, Nina Knockout and Dara Licks built a wall at the front of the pack to hold Stuffit back. Dara Licks went to the penalty box mid-jam, leaving AnnieChrist and Knockout to block Stuffit as Mo Pain racked up eight points. AnnieChrist took a bad fall on a recurring knee injury and a timeout was called. The bout resumed with most of the Belles sitting out penalties — only pivot Violet Temper and powerhouse blocker Spitfire Flair remained on the track. Spitfire twice knocked two Gotham Girls to the ground at a time—once at each end of the track, to show the crowd and Gotham what she was made of. Dara Licks broke out of the penalty box to back up her Belles, and Goldieboxxx escaped on Suzy Hotrod’s third pass. But it wasn't soon enough—the jam ended before she could score. In the next jam, both jammers (Persephone and Bonnie Thunders) went down together in the first curve. Wendy Whiplash pulled off a hard block on Pop Rox, knocking her down as Nina Knockout sent Blissy Sadistic into the crowd. Jam six went the full two minutes, as neither Nikki Knuckles nor Lil Miss Stuffit captured lead. Pop Rox, Mandawar and Vixen Van GoGo started in the penalty box. Goldieboxxx sent Stuffit to the floor as Knuckles slid by Beyonslay. With Stuffit still recovering, Rosie Bloodbath knocked her down again, hitting her so hard that the jammer panty flew off her helmet. Beyonslay whipped Stuffit through the pack and she gracefully snagged the star on her next pass while Ivana Rock assisted Knuckles to a tie score of 3-3 for the jam. The Belles were down a jammer in jam seven, with Mo Pain starting in the box. Beatrix Slaughter assisted Suzy Hotrod as she narrowly avoided a big hit by Vixen Van GoGo. Dara Licks was all over the pack, consistently staying in front of Suzy in an amazing display of agility. She held Suzy back enough for Vixen to fight her way up and take the Gotham jammer down as Mo Pain flew out of the penalty box just before the jam was called. Jam eight began with a false start. Pivots Ivana Rock and Kandy Kakes pulled the pack back together and the jam started again; the Belles were down one and Gotham was down two. Goldieboxxx grabbed lead status while Ivana Rock and Nina Knockout kept Pop Rox tied up in the pack. Pop Rox finally passed out of bounds, seconds before Kakes slid into the crowd and Goldieboxxx called the jam. In jam nine, Kandy Kakes faced off against Persephone. Persephone snagged lead jammer and made an effortless second pass while Vixen Van GoGo held Kakes in the pack, allowing her to break out only as Persephone breezed past the pack and called the jam, shutting Gotham out and scoring four points for the Belles. Gotham's lead was slowly dwindling with four shut-outs in a row, but with minutes to go, it looked bad for the Belles. The adrenaline was flowing in the final two jams of the night, with skaters flying all over the place - to the floor and onto the fans. In the next-to-last jam, Nikki Knuckles, Bonnie Thunders, Ana Bollocks, Rosie Bloodbath and Pop Rox all took spectacular falls as the action accelerated. The seconds were ticking down as the skaters lined up for jam 11, which pitted Suzy Hotrod against Persephone. No lead jammer was called. AnnieChrist stayed in front of Suzy Hotrod while Wendy Whiplash kept Kandy Kakes from helping Suzy through. The jammers were neck and neck in the pack, but Hotrod broke out first. Nina Knockout and Roxy Balboa were out to get each other, until Nina flew by to slam Beyonslay out of Persephone’s way, just as the whistle blew. The final all-out assault was impressive, as was the score for the period—26 Belles, 28 Gotham. The Philly girls had come back with a vengeance, but the Gotham Girls won the bout, 103-69. A rematch is almost certainly in the cards for these two teams of nemesisters, and fans won’t want to miss it! Street Butchers vs. Philthy Britches
In the first jam of the night, Mo Pain (Britches) faced off against Persephone (Butchers). Both skaters were even going into the pack, but Mo Pain broke through first and scored seven points to Persephone’s four, while Butchers pivot AnnieChrist, skating on an injured knee, tried to hold her back. The Britches continued the scoring trend through the next two jams, with Goldieboxxx taking five points to Sandra Day O’Clobber’s three in the second jam and Mo Pain besting Summer Assault three to two in the third jam. The Butchers tightened up the pack in jam number four, holding Violet Temper back and keeping the points for the jam tied at four each. At this point it was anyone’s game, with the score standing at 19 for the Britches and 13 for the Butchers. But that was all about to change. Mo Pain skated a stellar fifth jam, receiving strong whips from pivot Violet Temper and racking up 11 points as Janet Meano and Dotti Horror refused to let Sandra Day O’Clobber through the pack. With help from her pivot, Donkey Punch, who finally steamrolled Violet Temper out of the way, O’Clobber, managed to pick up three points. For two more jams, the Butchers held the line, refusing to allow the Britches to expand their lead, despite brutal blocks by Star Trouble and Spitfire Flair. Then, in the final jam of the first period, Mo Pain once again faced off against Sandra Day O’Clobber. Vixen Van GoGo was ruthless as the Butchers’ pivot in this jam, trying to stem the tide of the Britches’ rapidly rising score. But Mo whizzed through the pack, racking up nine more points for her team. Slay Belle and Suzy Skullcrusher hustled to knock her out of bounds while at the same time trying to clear a path for O’Clobber. At the end of the period, the score was 48 for the Britches to 27 for the Butchers. Period two began with Goldieboxxx jamming against Persephone. Heavy hitters Donkey Punch and Spitfire Flair did their best to knock each other’s jammer to the floor, while racking up forearm penalties as the jammers narrowly avoided them. Goldieboxxx picked up four points for her team while Persephone took three. The next two jams served to increase the Britches’ lead, with Violet Temper and Mo Pain scoring eight and nine points respectively as they received whips and pushes from Janet Meano and Peppermint Splatty. O’Clobber (whose knee was recovering from injury) and Summer Assault picked up three and four points each for the Butchers as Donkey Punch continued to accrue minor penalties in her quest to help them. In the fourth jam of the period, Persephone came out strong, taking lead jammer status and four more points for her team while holding Goldieboxxx to a single point before calling the jam. In the next two jams, the Britches returned the favor, and called both jams before the Butchers could score any points. Jam number seven also saw Star Trouble and Slay Belle unleashing a brutal series of blocks against each other at the back of the pack. The third period ended with a ninth jam in which Mo Pain and Summer Assault nearly took each other out in the race for lead jammer. Neither took it and the jam went the full two minutes. Vixen Van GoGo received a major penalty for blatant disregard of the rules, though it remains a mystery which rules she was blatantly disregarding (perhaps all of them?). The score stood at 88-55 in favor of the Britches at the end of the period. After holding a prayer circle on the rink, the Butchers sent Persephone in against Mo Pain for the first jam of the last period. But Mo grabbed lead jammer status and scored four points before calling off the jam, allowing Persephone a single point. Sandra Day O’Clobber came back with a vengeance, picking up six points for her team against Violet Temper’s three. Perhaps the prayer was heard, because the tide continued to turn as Persephone earned lead jammer, scoring three points and ending the jam with Goldieboxxx still stuck in the pack scoreless. Mo Pain and Violet Temper retaliated, taking lead jammer from Summer Assault and O’Clobber in the next two jams. They were aided by powerful whips from Rosie Bloodbath and Dara Licks, who also played a strong defense, keeping both Butchers jammers to two points each. Dotti Horror suffered a skate malfunction and limped to the center of the rink in the fifth jam. The announcers had called off the jam, but the refs were still counting points. Amidst this confusion, Violet Temper continued to rack up points as all the players on the track were now dead in a spread out pack - some girls had even skated off the track. Summer Assault tried to make up for this in the next jam by earning lead status, and shutting out Goldieboxxx. Violet Temper and Summer Assault faced off again in the 8th jam of the period, and Summer delivered a stunning block that sent Violet flying into the crowd. With some help from Peppermint Splatty, who violently pushed Suzy Skullcrusher to the ground and then fell on top of her, Violet made it through the pack and scored six points to Summer's four. In the last jam of the bout, Persephone picked up five more points for her team while Ada Baby and Derby Sanchez held Goldieboxxx back. The Butchers really turned up the heat in the third period, scoring 27 total points to the Britches’ 25. But in the end, the Britches’ early lead paid off and they won the bout 113-82, and first ever Warrior Cup trophy. The Britches dedicated their win to their fallen comrade Tricia Militia, who cheered her team on from the sidelines with a broken ankle. Top Scorers Top Foulers
On Sunday, August 13th, the Heavy Metal Hookers and the Hostile City Honeys took it to the rink for their teams' final games of the 2006 Philly Roller Girls season. Both were known for their bad attitudes, hot tempers, hot pants, and thirst for blood. Both wanted victory so bad they could taste it - and were willing to do almost anything to win. It was not just the battle for 3rd place standing in the league - it was a matter of pride. Fans knew it was going to be the most exciting game of the season so far - and came out in force. This game was also the debut for Hostile City Honeys blocker Nina Knockout, who made a huge impact for her team. The Honeys broke away to an early lead with strong showings by jammers Roxi Gunz and Nikki Knuckles and blockers Loretta Gogetta and Honey St. Claire. But in the fourth jam of the game, Hookers' co- captain Slim Reaper skated a 10-point shutout while her teammates Vana Black and Robin Drugstores kept Hostile City's Roxi Gunz on the ground or back in the pack. The Hookers broke ahead with a 22-14 lead and kept the path of hellfire, brimstone and destruction burning through the first period. Vana Black was on a mission to take down Honey St. Claire and it seemed no one was standing in her way. But Honeys' blocker Nina Knockout didn't like her girls treated so brutally and responded with some brunt force of her own - knocking Captain Hooker Ivana Rock out of bounds while her jammer Nikki Knuckles sailed past to score 8 points. Coltrane also retaliated by sending Wendy Whiplash to the floor. Seconds later Vana Black hit Honey St. Claire with so much intensity that she could barely skate; a still-recovering Whiplash racked up some points since neither skater could end it. At the close of the first period, the Heavy Metal Hookers were dominating with 44 points to the Hostile City Honeys 36. As the 2nd period opened, Hostile City jammers started chipping away at the Hookers' lead with blockers Lexie Deluxe, Mick Jabber and Jane Fondle creating holes in the pack for their teammates by throwing themselves right into harm's way. The Honeys narrowed it down to a point in the 2nd jam of the second period (45-44) as Roxi Gunz continuously pummelled Antoinette Lavey. Roughhouse Rhonda responded by slamming into Nikki Knuckles and the jam was called. Coltrane tried to change the game's momentum by strategically calling off a 0- 0 jam seconds before Ivana Rock hit the pack and could earn any points. The Hookers' fury raged and they answered back with several powerhouse jams, including Wendy Whiplash's 7 points in the middle of the 2nd period. Tensions between teams heated up and the blocking got more brutal as each tried to claw its way to a win. The 6th jam of the period ended with both jammers, Slim Reaper and Roxi Gunz, landing on top of each other, victims of the opposing teams' wrath. As the 2nd period wrapped up, the Hookers held a 10 point lead with the score at 72-62. Hookers' blockers Mandawar, Rough House Rhonda and Robin Drugstores were wearing down the opposition's endurance with constant assaults as Drop Dead Red and Val Halla helped conserve jammers' energy with sweet whips and pushes. Hostile City looked ready to drop by that last jam, and it seemed like the Heavy Metal Hookers might take home sweet victory. But anything can happen in 20 minutes... And 10-point leads can be lost in a few jams. After a period break to refresh and refocus, the Honeys came back to the rink renewed with a burning desire to win. Nikki Knuckles and Honey St. Claire narrowed the Hookers' lead from 10 points to 1 while Honeys' smart skating by Dublin Carbomb, Darth Hater and co-captain Jersey Diabla kept Hookers' jammers trapped in the pack. Nina Knockout sent jammer Antoinette Lavey sprawling into the audience while Honey St. Claire captured the lead for the Honeys with another shutout jam. But Wendy Whiplash wasn't about to let the Heavy Metal warriors go down easily... she fought back hard for 9 points to bring the Hookers back in front, 89-84. As the clock ticked down to the final moments of the bout, Honey St. Claire landed her fourth minor penalty jamming. The Honeys had to begin their next-to-last jam of the night with their jammer in the penalty box. Honeys blockers truly earned the "Hostile" part of their name in this jam as they kept knocking the determined Wendy Whiplash out of bounds and trapped her behind walls until just moments before Nikki Knuckles was sprung from the penalty box. Although Whiplash scored 3 for the Hookers, Knuckles sped through the pack untouched to earn 5 points in one minute - making it a 4-point game with 2 minutes left the clock. Both teams sent out their quickest jammers and most vicious blockers for the final matchup of the evening. Nina Knockout mercilessly took down Hookers' jammer Ivana Rock in every attempt to pass. In an amazing show of force and teamwork the Honeys kept star jammer Ivana Rock unable to leave the pack for two full minutes while Knuckles zipped by and lapped Ivana Rock for an additional point before the whistle ended the jam. Silence came over the rink as the teams and fans all stood anxiously awaiting the final score. Did the Heavy Metal Hookers manage to hold on to their slim lead? Or was Hostile City able to squeeze past their competitors in the eleventh hour? Could there be a tie? And so it was announced in an emotional moment for everyone: the Hostile City Honeys had won the game - and the 3rd place spot in the league - by one point in the very last jam, the final score standing at 98 Honeys, 97 Hookers. Street Butchers vs. Hostile City Honeys On Sunday July 9th a record crowd of Philly Roller Girls fans packed into Millennium Skateworld to watch the Broad Street Butchers and the Hostile City Honeys get down and derby. And the action was HOT. At the start of the first period the Butchers took an early lead with jammer Summer Assault lapping Honeys rookie Nikki Knuckles for a 5-0 shutout immediately followed by a 10 point jam courtesy of the slippery Sandra Day O’Clobber. The Honeys unleashed 2 standout rookie jammers this bout, Knuckles and Roxi Gunz, but the Butchers kept them trapped in the pack with Annie Christ and Donkey Punch holding the front line. This was also a first bout for Honeys blocker Jane Fondle, Butchers jammer Persephone, and blocker Suzy Skullcrusher, who made it into the penalty showdown at the end of the first period. In this special round of full contact musical chairs Honeys bad girls Coltrane and captain Honey St. Claire took on Ada Baby and Skullcrusher to have a seat for one extra point. Although Honey put up a hell of a fight, the penalty point went to the Butchers with Skullcrusher gripping the seat of the chair for dear life.
At the top of the second period the Butchers were up 46-26 and the Honeys had fire in their eyes. Hostile City pivots Dublin Carbomb and Jersey Diabla struggled to keep the Butchers at bay, but Assault and O’Clobber started off the second period with another series of shutout jams, gaining 9 more points for their team. Honey St. Claire tried to take it back, skating a 4-1 jam against rookie Persephone with brutal blockers Mick Jabber and Loretta Gogetta paving her way. Sandra Day O’Clobber then dealt out some swift justice with 4 passes through the pack, shutting Coltrane out in an incredible 12-0 jam. Tempers flared at the close of the period as Butchers captain Vixen Van Go-Go got tangled up with Honeys jammer Nikki Knuckles in an illegal block. Knuckles fought back and was awarded a major penalty, forcing the Honeys to skate down a jammer for the last jam of the period and allowing Persephone to gain 4 unchallenged points for the Butchers, bringing the score to 86-43 with only 20 minutes left to go. Honeys blockers Lexie Deluxe, Jane Fondle, and Darth Hater battled fiercely with Butchers Vixen, Derby Sanchez, and Slay Belle in the pack but the Butchers continued to score with jammers Persephone and O’Clobber repeatedly achieving lead jammer status and calling off the jam to prevent the Honeys from earning points. With only a few minutes left on the clock Honey Nikki Knuckles gained some ground skating an intense 8-7 jam against O’Clobber, but the tides had already turned. The bout ended with a score of 138-65, securing the Broad Street Butchers a 2-0 record and a spot in the Philly Roller Girls 2006 Season Championship against the Philthy Britches, PRG’s other undefeated team. The Hostile City Honeys will go on to skate against the Heavy Metal Hookers in the next Philly Roller Girls bout on August 13th. This night was a battle of good and evil, a legend for the ages. Although the Hookers fought with the ferocity of hellfire, razing the enemies blocking ranks, the Britches jammers continued to score, racking up a 65 point lead by the end of the game. The final score was 124-59 Britches. The Hookers next and last bout of the season will be on August 13th against the Hostile City Honeys. This game was vicious and action-packed. The lead changed hands several times and it was any team's game. Heavy Metal Hookers pulled away with an amazing 11 point jam by Ivana Rock, however Butchers jammers Summer Assault and Sandra Day O'Clobber kept up with the points to keep the score close. At the end of the first period, the score was 29-28. Butchers skater Donkey Punch faced off against Hookers' Chainsaw Guts Fuck in the penalty showdown and evened up the score. (29-29) In the 2nd period, the Hookers pulled ahead with a 9 point lead. The Hookers tightened up their packs and blocked hard, with the help of Holly Caust, Donna Ria, Chainsaw Gutsfuck and Goldie Boxxx. The Hookers gained the advantage with an outstanding 9-point jam by Holly Caust that came out of nowhere. Tensions ran high during this period and Vixen Van Go-Go (Butchers) got into a tussle with Donna Ria (Hookers) - both did time in the penalty box for their bad behaviour. (57-48) Butchers jammers Summer Assault and Sandra Day O'Clobber tried to up the points to catch up but the Butchers still lagged behind the Hookers until Vixen Van Go-Go skated an 8-point jam, during which Drop Dead Red (Hookers) incurred a major penalty and sat out for a minute. This tied up the game. The Hookers tried to regain their lead but the momentum had changed. Butchers stepped up their blocking a notch and with the help of Sandra Day O'Clobber's 6-point jam took the lead. The Butchers scored 23 points to the Hookers' 7 in the last period. In the final jam of the night Hookers blocker Holly Caust took out Butchers jammer Summer Assault in an illegal tackle/strangle hold and started a fight. Ada Baby and Contessa Cutthroat jumped into the melee to try to peel Holly Caust off their Butchers teammate. The period ended and the Broad Street Butchers won 71-64. The Philthy Britches defeated the Hostile City Honeys by a score of 104-28. The referees and the skaters were abiding by the new WFTDA rules for the first time in a public bout. These new rules (www.wftda.com) called for no more forearm blocking -- so the hits were harder and the action was more intense. Penalties were called as the jams were taking place, and skaters were penalized at the time of infraction. This new twist made for some exciting moments, especially when one of the jammers was in the penalty box. The action was fast, the competition was brutal, and many skaters found themselves in the penalty box. Gross Physical Misconduct was awarded to Lexie Deluxe (Honeys) her third period fight with Spitfire Flair (Britches). On a sad note, Hostile City Honeys' Minority Whip went down in the first period and had to be removed from the rink. This was her premiere bout and with her hot booty display during team introductions, she was already a crowd favorite. Her ankle is broken in two places and she will had some nifty hardware installed. Look for her to return to the rink later in the summer. Until then, send her some get well wishes - visit her myspace profile www.myspace.com/katiewhip David Youll has published this awesome photo gallery of the April 9 game!
