Saturday, February 25th, the German Society of Pennsylvania is pleased to team up with drinks author Marnie Old and the Philly Roller Girls to launch "Bierfest," a new annual event to celebrate and promote Pennsylvania’s German brewing heritage.
This Saturday afternoon tasting event will have a relaxed vibe, featuring delicious beers, German nibbles and live bluegrass music.
In addition to the main tasting event in the Barthelmes Auditorium, Bierfest attendees will enjoy access to a brewer’s discussion panel in the German Society’s historic Horner Memorial Library. A VIP guided tasting seminar led by sommelier and Daily News columnist Marnie Old will explore the fascinating history of Pennsylvania brewing and compare local and imported interpretations of classic German beer styles. A portion of the proceeds of Bierfest will support MANNA, dedicated to delivering nourishment and improving health for Philadelphia area individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS, cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.
