ECDX 2011 Presents "No Minors" Beta Testing: The Future is Wow!

As we grow breathtakingly close to ECDX 2011 this weekend, Philly Roller Girls is proud to usher in its fifth year producing a tournament where competition often merges with experimentation. Though it's never entirely intended to be that way, our humble tournament has often been in the enviable position of working through new rule-sets or changes to WFTDA rules versions, and ECDX has become somewhat of a proving ground for new ideas and philosophies--trying things out on a large scale without the harsh glare from the lights of the WFTDA Big 5.

This year is no exception, as the fifth annual East Coast Derby Extravaganza will be showcasing three of WFTDA's six "No Minors" Beta rule-set bouts in 2011. The "Beta Bouts," as Philly Roller Girls has dubbed them, will feature the following match-ups at this year's tournament:

Saturday, June 25th - 6:30pm (EDT) Charm City vs. Windy City
Sunday, June 26th - 12:30pm (EDT) Lehigh Valley vs. River City
Sunday, June 26th - 5pm (EDT) Steel City vs. Maine

Those of you who can't be with us in person are invited to join us online. We'll be live streaming the event, with an HD upgrade, as well as posting content, polls and contests through the website and social media. And we encourage you to give us feedback: Minors? Or no minors? What's your flavor?

Supporters of the "No Minors" rules will be eying the results of the trial bouts with much anticipation, as will its detractors. And leagues that have graciously offered themselves up as guinea pigs are both taking a calculated risk, and a brave step forward toward helping WFTDA to define what the sport of flat track is or is not. Learn more about WFTDA's "No Minors" initiative HERE.

Philly Roller Girls is thrilled to provide the forum for this testing, and strives to provide a unique, quirky and satisfying experience for skaters, support staff and fans from around the globe. Long live Flat Track Nation.

Catch all the ECDX 2011 action this weekend LIVE on our site!
