Number one seed in the East, Gotham Girls Roller Derby showed up in force for the first night of action at ECDX 201. Kicking off the tournament, Gotham's B-Team, the Wall Street Traitors, took on Philly Roller Girl's own Independence Dolls. With standing room only around the Sportsplex's Rink 2, ECDX fans were treated to a rematch of 2010's Dolls/Traitors bout, only this time with New York digging deep for the win.

Brazilian Nut, Gotham's rookie jammer topped the team's scoring against Dolls vets like The Cycrone!, LayYa Out Ali and Dotti Horror. GGRD outscored the Dolls 58-5 in the middle of the first half, but slowed for the Dolls' full head of steam in the second. Rookie Eileen U. Scream laid tracks on the court jamming for the Dolls, pushing the red and blue to pick up lead jammer status 16 for 20 jams in the second half. Stellar Gotham secondary defense, and helped put the Traitors over the topwith great plays from Anne Frankenstein, Rat-A-Tat-Kat, GalXC and Bunny McBones.

Traitors' All-Star sisters capped off the night with a win over Rose City, coming out of Portland, OR as the number 5 seed in the West. Rose blockers forced 12 Gotham shootouts in the first half, setting up an impressively close score of 54-39 with New York just ahead. Bonnie Thunders brought a maelstrom of points to Gotham's second half, with a total game net of 91 points. Rose City's Scald Eagle soared through packs, often playing hard defensively against GGRD's jammers, while White Flight showed versatility in the pack and with the star. Gotham's Suzy Hotrod and Hyper Lynx moved effortlessly between offense and defense, well-placed by the bench management for the black and red. Final score Gotham 147, Rose 79.

Tune in LIVE tomorrow for more ECDX 2011 action!
