PRG volunteers: Life Without Limits 5k Run

On Thursday, April 26th, members of Philly Roller Girls volunteered at the Annual United Cerebral Palsy "Life Without Limits 5k Run" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The group made quite a statement as they kept the crowd of over 1,500 runners safe and sound as serving as the course patrol for the race.

Each year UCP hosts the run, which began as a corporate run over 25 years ago, which raises money to help children and adults living with disabilities live a "life without limits". The evening started out with the wheelchair race (both electric and manual) then the runners took the course, with first, second and third place awards being given to the winners in several different categories. The presence of PRG was well-received with many participants asking about derby or sharing the stories they recalled from watching derby as kids. It was also a great opportunity to promote our May 12th bout both at the finish line and at the After-Party which took place at Jack's Firehouse in Fairmount.

Thanks to the skaters and officials who represented PRG at this very special event, we hope to be asked back again for next year's event which will undoubtedly be bigger and better than this year's record attendance!
